Overview
For a short period from the mid 1960s through until the mid 1980s a relatively small group of cars belonging to a number of class 1 railroads were responsible for delivering concumer whitegoods from manufacturers docks to distribution centres around the continental United States.
Upgrades to both railway and customer infrastructure, brought an end to the cars long before they were unfit for service. Many were converted to Maintenance of Way (MoW) service and lingered on into the 1990s andlater.
